Federico D’Ascanio

A Phd research fellow in Technical and Urban Planning, Contract as Teaching Assistance to the Urban Planning course at the University of L'Aquila. Obtained in 2006 the title of Philosophiæ Doctor at the University of L'Aquila with specialization in "restoration, project and protection in the settlement and territorial contexts of high historical, environmental and landscape value". The topics of his research deal with the problems of new urban strategies, also with reference to the changed needs of territorial governance. Is involved in the reconstruction of the Abruzzese capital hit roughly by the earthquake of 6 April 2009, through urban projects of resilient public spaces prepared in collaboration with the Local Public Administration and with the drafting of restoration projects of the historical heritage.

Donato Di Ludovico

A PhD researcher of Urban and territorial planning and design, Urban design professor at the University of L'Aquila (Engineering). He carries out research activities within the new forms of Spatial and Strategic planning, Urban planning and design (safety and security), knowledge and assessment systems (SEA). With regard to the Spatial planning, his research is focused on new models and new policies. He is currently a member of the board of the National Institute of Urban Planning; director of Urban Laboratory for the Reconstruction of L’Aquila (LAURAq-INU/ANCSA); scientific responsible of AnTeA Laboratory (Territorial and Environmental Analysis) at the University of Aquila.

A sociologist and works as an assistant professor at the Institute of European Studies at the Jagiellonian University. His fields of interest are the sociology and anthropology of the city, European integration, nations and nationalisms in Central Europe. He has written several articles on the sociology and anthropology of Polish cities. Among his publications are three books: Miasto w sieci znaczeń. Kraków i jego tożsamości (Księgarnia Akademicka Kraków 2010), Wynajdywanie miejskości. Polska kwestia miejska z perspektywy długiego trwania (NOMOS Kraków 2016), Efekt ESK. Jak konkurs na Europejską Stolicę Kultury zmienił polskie miasta (written together with Bożena Gierat-Bieroń, Joanna Orzechowska Wacławska. NOMOS Kraków 2017).

Predoctoral researcher fellow at Deusto Cities Lab and PhD candidate in the Leisure, Culture and Communication for Human Development program. She has a degree in Spanish Language and Hispanic Literatures from the University of Belgrade and has a Master’s Degree in Leisure Project Management from the University of Deusto. For both Master’s and Doctorate studies, she enjoyed a scholarship granted by the European Commission that facilitated her academic stay at Sapienza University in Rome. Jana Pecníková

An assistant professor at Matej Bel University, Faculty of Arts in Banska Bystrica, Slovakia. Heritage trainer, social anthropologist and cultural project manager. As a researcher, affiliated at the Jagiellonian University, she is mainly interested in relations between social memory, heritage and identity. She publishes articles about: museums, tourism, public space and subcultures. Her current research project deals with europeanisation of heritage. She is appointed professor assistant at the UNESCO chair for the Holocaust research. As a museum trainer, she promotes interpretive and democratic museology, specializing in storytelling for museums and support of brand management. She has co-authored a manual for interpretive museology as well as a number of museum exhibitions and projects.

Grzegorz Pożarlik

Senior lecturer and former deputy director of the Jagiellonian University Institute of European Studies. He holds Ph.D. in Humanities from the Faculty of Philosophy at the Jagiellonian University. His doctoral thesis analysed the Polish raison d’état in the context of the European integration processes. His research focuses on sociology of power, international security in the Post-Cold War era, civil society and public sphere in Europe, democratic deficit and legitimacy crisis in the EU, symbolic construction of identity in the context of the EU enlargement.

Paola Rizzi

A professor of techniques of Urban and Regional Planning at DICEAA, University of L'Aquila and DADU, University of Sassari, Italy. Visiting professor in universities as Ritsumeikan University, Kochi University, Thammassat University, Jagiellonian University and Cracow Technical University among others. Visiting researcher at DMUCH/Disaster Mitigation of Urban Cultural Heritage Research Center/Ritsumeikan University. Rizzi is an Urban Planner and Designer and also hold a Master in Business Administration. She deals in simulation and territorial analysis techniques, urban design and participatory planning; she's also interested in urban planning, history of cartography and urban iconography in general, with some forays in archaeology. In the research field she's undertaken some studies and planning of new tools for urban analysis and public participation to decision and planning processes, on new technologies and communication.

Roberto San Salvador Del Valle

A Professor at the University of Deusto. He holds a BA in History, and Geography and a PhD in Philosophy and Educational Sciences and a MA in Leisure Studies. He is Director of the Deusto Cities Lab, a trans-disciplinary Chair pursued through research projects, learning programs and actions open innovation, transforming cities through transversal and transectoral city governance. He has been Director of the Institute of Leisure Studies (2000-2007) and Vice-Rector for Communication, Multilingualism and Social Innovation (2007-2015). He teaches BA courses on Tourism and MA courses on Leisure Management, MA courses on Congress, Event and Trade Fair Management. His publications mainly focus on leisure phenomenon, cities, policies and governance.

Joanna Sondel-Cedarmas

An Italian philologist and a Political Scientist. She works as an associate professor at the Institute of European Studies at the Jagiellonian University, where she is a Head of the Department of Mediterranean Politics and Culture. Among other topics, she deals with European nationalism of the 18th  and 19th centuries, political thought of the European right, policy of remembrance, as well as with the Italian – Polish political and cultural relationship. Her recent publications (among others) are: Nacjonalizm włoski – geneza i ewolucja doktryny politycznej 1896-1922, Księgarnia Akademicka, Kraków 2013), Dizionario italo – polacco della terminologia politica e sociale (Universitas, Kraków 2018) and Le ombre del passato. Italia e Polonia di fronte alla Shoah (written together with Francesco Berti, Filippo Focardi, Viella, Roma 2018). She coordinates Double Master`s Degree Programme in European Studies with University of Padua.
